Anglers Tavern
Project overview: Anglers Tavern is a long-standing local venue in North West Melbourne, positioned on a bend of the Mirring-gnay-bir-nong (Maribyrnong River). After the October 2022 floods, the venue underwent a major restoration and has now re-opened with new spaces and a lighter, brighter interior.
Design direction: The interior palette leans into natural, grounded materials. Timber varieties and clay finishes reference the river landscape and local flora, helping the venue feel connected to its setting.
What’s new for guests:
- Kids play room and outdoor playground
- Refreshed bistro and updated menu
- Late-night entertainment (Thursday to Saturday)
Project delivery: Red Design Group provided architectural and interior design services across concept, design development, tender, construction documentation, and site coordination. A flood barrier solution was also developed to support rapid deployment if river levels rise again.
